LW-ASA is perfect for 3D printing large lightweight objects for outdoor use
Characteristics:
- 2.5 x volume increase
- UV resistant
- Weatherproof
- Temperature resistant up to 96°C
- Strong, rigid and dimensionally stable
- Good lightfastness, so hardly any discolouration
- Density without foam: 1.07 g/cm3
- Foam density: 0.43 g/cm3 (printed at 40% flow rate)
- *Foaming makes the filament color lighter
- *LW-ASA will warp sooner than LW-PLA

Printing with LW-ASA:
- Print temperature: 240 - 260°C
- Foam temperature: 240°C
- Print speed: 30 - 50mm/sec.
- Heated bed: 90 - 110°C
- Use bed adhesion + print a large/wide brim
- Heated chamber if possible > otherwise print a high skirt around your model to prevent drafts
- Fan: off, or as low as possible

This ASA foams at 240°C and increases 2.5x in volume; so print large objects that weigh almost nothing in comparison
Low weight ASA was developed by ColorFabb and fulfills a unique need; in terms of applications, you should think of drone production, fantasy costumes and objects for the stage. But also if you want to print coarse view models at low cost, low weight ASA is a godsend due to the low material consumption.
You can reduce filament usage by 50% by using LW-ASA. In addition, printing with LW-ASA saves considerable time. By varying the layer heights, you can create nice effects and print extra thick edges, for example.
LW-ASA is available in a diameter of 1.75 mm and 2.85 mm. Read the data sheet carefully before printing with LW-ASA and make sure you print a few small tests with this filament.
