Cleaning filament from Plasticz

You can remove blockages and filament residues from your hotend and nozzle with Plasticz cleaning filament. With the help of the so-called 'cold pull' you can easily remove residual filament residues and keep your hotend and nozzle free of blockages.

What is a cold pull?

A cold pull is a way to clean your hotend and nozzle by pulling cleaning filament out of the hotend with some force; it works as follows:

1. Heat the nozzle to 280 ° C and "unload" the filament
2. Loosen the extruder wheel and push the cleaning filament into the hotend and through the nozzle by hand until it comes out
3. Reduce the nozzle temperature to 20 ° C and continue to push the filament through the nozzle. You will notice that this is no longer possible at +/- 180 ° C.
4. You can now release the filament and wait until the nozzle has cooled to 20 ° C.
5. Set the nozzle temperature to 90 - 95 ° C and pull the filament vigorously from the hotend / nozzle. This already works without using too much force. Filament residues adhere to the cleaning filament and are pulled together from the hotend / nozzle
6. Repeat this process a few times until the residue is removed

* The cold pull is actually a kind of lukewarm pull.
