Cleaning filament from Plasticz
You can remove blockages and filament residues from your hotend and nozzle with Plasticz cleaning filament. With the help of the so-called 'cold pull' you can easily remove residual filament residues and keep your hotend and nozzle free of blockages.
What is a cold pull?
A cold pull is a way to clean your hotend and nozzle by pulling cleaning filament out of the hotend with some force; it works as follows:- Heat the nozzle to 280 ° C and "unload" the filament
- Loosen the extruder wheel and push the cleaning filament into the hotend and through the nozzle by hand until it comes out
- Reduce the nozzle temperature to 20 ° C and continue to push the filament through the nozzle. You will notice that this is no longer possible at +/- 180 ° C.
- You can now release the filament and wait until the nozzle has cooled to 20 ° C.
- Set the nozzle temperature to 90 - 95 ° C and pull the filament vigorously from the hotend / nozzle. This already works without using too much force. Filament residues adhere to the cleaning filament and are pulled together from the hotend / nozzle
- Repeat this process a few times until the residue is removed
* The cold pull is actually a kind of lukewarm pull.
